A Study on the Thought disorder and Boundary disturbances in Psychosis

Abstract
Among the 45o Rorschach record of psychiatric inpatients during the last four years, three types of thought disorder on the Rorschach (contamination, confabulation, and fablized combination) were conceptualized as indicating different degrees of disruption of boundaries. Five group of patients (Contamination and confabulation, confabulation, confabulation and fabulized combination, fabulized combination, combination) who resopnded each of the types of boundary disruptions were compared on the reports of clinical course, clinical diagnosis, other Rorschch responses, and Mi1IPI F scale. A few consistent and significant differences were found between level of thought disorder group and supported a continuum of degrees of boundary disruption. The result indicated that levels of thought disorder as defined by the relative degree of the disturbances of boundaries can be valuable in differentiating levels of psychopathology. Thought disorder level were related significantly with Psycho-pathology level, chronified possibility, impairment of cognitive function and reality testing, interpersonal relationships and distorted human representation on rorschach and discharged status. Therefore, degrees of boundary disruption and thought disorder level appeared to be useful criteria for evaluating the extent of pathology and chronified possibility.
